If this unit did all that they said it would, it would be a great device.
It's an outstanding, durable unit; Delorme's map packages seem far superior to what anybody else has to offer, even at substantially higher prices; and their customer service and support departments are actuallu aupportive, unlike some other companies'.

David - July 17th, But I and others do try to address deorme issues when we can. The receiver is WAAS enabled. With up to waypoints, 10 tracks and 50 routes, this DeLorme GPS device allows you to store locations or landmarks you may want to return to.

I stumbled into buying this unit after purchasing a very disappointing Magellan Triton and Pn2-0 Geographic Software package. I love the maps and aerial photography that I can load for my many hiking expeditions—that and the reasonably priced annual subscription tilted me toward the PN over the Garmin.
I use the units in conjunction with a compass and topo maps; I pull UTM's from maps and enter them into the units and do it often. But it was pretty revolutionary when it came out three years ago.
It fell off my bike when I was riding it… The screen cracked! Can I type in those coordinates as needed from the field after guessing a waypoint on a map pan and using the waypoint edit function. Have a question about handheld?
I gave him the unit, he fiddled with it for a couple of days and gave it back. Even after many repeated attempts, I have never succeeded in getting a fix on my PN20 from a window seat.
I have used up to two dozen GPS units over the years, from survey grade sub centimeter to hand-helds. Overall, this is a fantastic device and it leads the way in a new breed of GPS devices which can display aerial photography and satellite imagery. Alan Read full review.
XP works better especially for firmware updates and many other operations. I have to retract my comnplaints about their customer service.

Tracks can be recorded by distance or by time. Limited support was added in firmware version 1. Unit won't recognize the maps that are sitting on it internally, never mind the SD card. Do you need both of these files loaded into the PN? Have had better luck with Garmin units. Deoorme fast loading, easy to access multi layers of maps, topo maps, and color satellite images you will be impressed.
